"We believe in children!” declare Pastors David and Sharon Emigh and their Word of Life congregation and no one would disagree!
On Sunday, July 25, the pastors unveiled our newly remodeled Word of Life Kids Sanctuary. Able to easily seat 80 children, 83 children came together to enjoy the first Sunday of their new children’s room. Complete with brightly-colored décor, multiple TV screens, and state-of-the-art movie and sound systems; everyone’s expectations were blown away. The grand opening was a huge success! We had four children receive Jesus Christ as their personal Saviour.
 Instructed on what was needed to impact children’s lives, Church Administrator, Jack Barnes meticulously designed the special space; while Ron Surber and his team beautifully constructed it. The kid friendly graphic covered walls are courtesy of Wacky World, a Florida based company begun by a former Walt Disney employee who surrendered his life to Christ.
“BEAUTIFUL,” “AWESOME,” “INCREDIBLE,” exclaimed many parents seeing the area for the very first time. Some of them even joked about staying in Children’s Church that Sunday and getting a recording of Pastor David’s sermon.
“Our goal was to make our new WOLKIDS Church extremely safe, fun, and relevant! We want this to be a place that children beg their parents to bring them to every Sunday and Wednesday,” said Children’s Pastor, Smiley Elmore, Jr. The brand new Word of Life Kids Church is very safe? The computerized sign-in system is where safety begins. Once a parent, older sibling, or approved adult checks a child into WOLKIDS Church, they understand that the child does not leave the Children’s Church without the parent, older sibling, or approved adult identifying themselves to Pastor Smiley and/or his staff.
To further make the area safe, Word of Life installed two separate doors: one for “IN” and the other for “OUT.” This keeps children and their siblings safe from being knocked over when they enter and leave the facility. It also provides a clear walkway for expectant mothers. With premium-padded carpeting and soft chairs to play video games on, children will be safe if they happen to fall.
WOLKIDS CHURCH is filled with fun! With 10 screens to play brand new video gaming systems on and a double puppet stage where friendly puppets come alive to capture their attention children have fun in WOLKIDS Church. The wide-open space and raised ceiling enable Pastor Smiley and his trained staff to have lively games and songs add to the delightful experience of WOLKIDS Church.
 What makes it “relevant”? First, the décor of the graphics got the kids’ attention and let them know that Word of Life knows kids. The multi-colored walls call to mind popular Veggie Tales videos for the younger children and music videos for the older ones.
The built-in Bible Bucks Store is much like the store at Chuck E. Cheese and Incredible Pizza where children “buy” prizes with their Word of Life Bible Bucks. In WOLKIDS Church, kids earn Bible Bucks for bringing their Bibles to Church, memorizing Bible verses, and saying “Please,” “Yes Ma’am,” and “No Ma’am.”
Lastly sports are a tremendous draw to children of all ages; and the carpeted bleachers and stairs give the new Word of Life children’s sanctuary a stadium feel. Kids sit, watch, and listen while looking down from elevated bleachers, while the staff makes sure the kids are involved with loud cheers and doing the ever-popular “wave.”
So, it’s easy to see that Pastors David and Sharon Emigh and their staff created their brand new WOLKIDS Church with the child in mind, and not for just any child, but YOUR special child.
