Saturday February 21 was a day that many of the family of Word of Life had looked forward to. We do a annual outreach to the homeless of Tulsa and bring them in for a big hot breakfast. We always get more out of it than the homeless people do.
We met at 7:00 for prayer and there were a great group of people. It is exciting to see parents with small children come and many of our Depot teen-agers were there. We sought the Lord Jesus for a powerful day and prayed in the harvest.
The cooks had arrived at 6:00 A.M. and did a great job preparing a wonderful breakfast. At 8:00 we headed out with two large school buses for the downtown area of Tulsa. Search and Rescue which is a ministry headed up by Jerred Kubalek a member of Word of Life and LMFI had spread the word Friday night at their weekly time of ministry to the street people of Tulsa. We also put out signs the night before so we had a group waiting for us.
We bussed in about 70 people and they did not know what to expect but came willing. They were met at the door by smiling greeters and treated like queens and kings. Economic times have been hard so we had two couples with new born babies and several women who were living on the streets. It was sad to see this but we loved them and fed them all.
After a great breakfast we had a wonderful time of ministry. Micah Felts lead us in praise and worship and Pastor Smiley Elmore shared the wonderful gospel of Jesus and preformed some feats of strength. The atmosphere was electric and the audience very attentive.
We threw out the net and 5 adults came forward for prayer and made a fresh commitment to Jesus Christ. One of the ladies received the Baptism of the Holy Spirit and the counselor said “she walked away extremely blessed and could not quit smiling.” It was a powerful day.
We thought of the words of Jesus. Matt 25:34-40
34 Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world:
35 For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in:
36 Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison , and ye came unto me.
37 Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, and fed thee? or thirsty, and gave thee drink?
38 When saw we thee a stranger, and took thee in? or naked, and clothed thee?
39 Or when saw we thee sick, or in prison , and came unto thee?
40 And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.
Thank you Jesus!
